This painting represents change and transformation.
Death and rebirth.
It is the boat of uncertainty that we sit upon between the old and the new. Sapphire holds a symbol of transformation in her left hand. A skull overflowing with flowers and bees. The skull represents the soil to earth the roots of the flowers of growth. Their spirit petals arise elegantly towards the sun.
Sapphire holds a single flower in her right hand. It entwines itself into her veins and reminds us of our connection with nature.
Sapphire wears native Australian flowers in her hair. The Sturt desert pea flowers are a strong feature in her crown symbolising South Australia. My home town where my family live. When I paint these flowers I think of home and my people that I love.
Every day Her/ my heart is healing ….in turn flowers are seen growing out of the main artery that is pumping through her chest.
Sapphire essentially symbolises growth. She encourages the viewer to embrace the changes that life throws at us and to remember that there is always a pot of gold on the other side of discomfort. That could be in the form of a lesson to be learned, a new friendship or a new experience.
